Midweek Lenten Services with Evangelical Lutheran Church continue on Wednesday, March 21, at Salem with a soup/sandwich fellowship at 6:15 PM and the service at 7:00 PM. The theme for the season is The Disciplines of Lent, and this week’s focus is on Study of the Word of God.
Our organ pedal board is in need of repairs. The estimate for the work is $2,800. Anyone wishing to donate to the costs of repair of the organ may do so by putting a contribution in their envelope under “other†and marking it “organ repairâ€. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
On Saturday, March 24th, we will be picking up trash on Social Island Road for the Adopt A Highway program. We will be meeting at 9:00 AM. If you are willing to help with the project, please call Susie for more information and the meeting location. More folks helping gets the job done quicker – plus, more folks is more fun!
The Marion Community Maundy Thursday service will be on March 29th at 7:00 PM at Marion First United Methodist Church. Pastor Denise will preach.
We will have a joint Good Friday service with Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 30th at 7:00 PM here at Salem.
On Easter Sunday, April 1st, we will have a breakfast and fellowship at 9:00 AM in the Social Room. Our Festival Service of Holy Communion will follow at 10:15 AM.
We are collecting items for the “Power Pack†program at Marion Elementary School. The program provides meals for children at risk for hunger so they have a little to eat on the weekends. A list of needed items is at the back of the sanctuary. There are 29 at-risk children this year.
Any Thrivent Financial member who may have 2017 Choice Dollars to designate must do so by March 31st in order to keep it local. If you do not receive a call from Marlin Maclay’s assistant on the number of Choice Dollars you have or have questions about how to designate them, contact the Thrivent office at 717-264-3324.
There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for refreshments for the 4th Sunday Fellowship. Please sign up to host a month.
Salem needs two people to attend Synod Assembly at Messiah College in Grantham from May 31 through June 2. Contact the office if you are interested in representing Salem as a voting member.
