Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
In the book of Ecclesiastes, we read:” For everything there is a season, and a time for
every matter under heaven…” Seasons come, and seasons go, so it is with all of life.
After much prayerful reflection over the past few years and much time spent listening to
the Holy Spirit and feeling an insatiable restlessness, I have decided to retire from full time ministry at Salem and pursue other avenues of ministry.
My last day of ministry will be Sunday, October 23 rd , which will be followed by my last
week of vacation.
One of the rules of our synod, for the health of all concerned, is for both the congregation
and me to sign a Covenant of Closure. As such, this means that I will not be available to return for funerals, or anything else. It will be a time of reflection for you to discern your future in ministry and you need to do that without me.
I give thanks to God for my ministry among you and for all of you. I wish you all of God’s
blessings for the future. You will remain in my prayers.
In Christ,
Pastor Denise Horn
